Finnish companies can insure their foreign investments against political risks associated with the host countries and (in special cases) also against commercial risks.  If a bank has granted a loan to finance an investment, Finnvera can cover the political risk associated with the investment by providing the bank with investment guarantees.

The investment may be made in a new or existing company and it must promote economic growth in the host country and in Finland.
