Short-term credit insurance for exports to industrialised countries – Update

Published date

Short-term credit insurance for exports to industrialised countries is ending on 31 December 2010. The European Commission will probably grant permission to apply for an extension to this special arrangement.

On 5 October 2010, the European Commission published a draft communication that would make it possible to apply for a one-year extension to the exceptional arrangement concerning short-term credit insurance. The official communication will not be issued until after a public consultation (6–26 October). If Finland wishes to apply for permission to continue short-term credit insurance for exports to industrialised countries, this can be done once the official communication has been published.

Exporters have expressed a clear wish to continue the exceptional arrangement. For its own part, Finnvera has already started measures to ensure that Finland can apply for an extension as soon as it becomes possible.
