Finnvera is a specialized financing company owned by the state of Finland. It provides domestic small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with loans, guarantees and venture capital investments. Finnvera also provides export credit guarantees and financing for export credits. Finnvera is the official export credit agency of Finland. It is controlled and managed by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy.
Since 2012 Finnvera has borrowed from international capital markets under a Medium Term Note programme guaranteed by the Republic of Finland. Debt issued under the MTN programme is used to fund loans to the Finnish SME sector and export credits.
The ratings for Finnvera's EMTN programme correspond to the long-term debt ratings of The Republic of Finland. The rating given by Moody’s to Finnvera is Aa1 and that given by Standard & Poor’s is AA+.
